Software Description:
eDonkey, has earned a fair amount of well-deserved attention for its lightning-fast network and nicely designed
client. Sporting an elegant, easy-to-use interface and access to one very high-tech network,
eDonkey is one of the most promising file-sharing clients we've seen in some time.
Wrapped in a minimal pin-striped skin, the application gives you straightforward controls for searching, transferring files,
using the library, and playing media. eDonkey connects to a completely new network called Overnet, which uses a technology
called a distributed hashtable to organize data on the network in a way that makes downloads more readily available.
Its other features include the ability to throttle download and upload speeds, as well as apply several skins. You also can
connect to the BitTorrent network and use an HTTP protocol plug-in. While eDonkey gets almost everything right, it does have
its quirks.
The file-management system, while adequate, could stand a makeover. We also felt the time-consuming registration process was
entirely unnecessary. Nevertheless, eDonkey's combination of solid features, clean interface, and top-notch performance make
it a fantastic choice for anyone in the market for a new file-sharing app.
